The Apex Legends esports scene continues to grow, as Respawn and other tournament organizers have awarded over $25 million over the years. These are the winningest players by prize money earnings in Apex history.

Apex Legends exploded onto the battle royale scene when it was released on February 4, 2019, garnering millions of players in a matter of weeks. The title’s mix of smooth FPS gameplay alongside highlight moments with Legend abilities makes it a stellar spectator esport.

While early competition relied on third-party organizers for online tournaments, such as Code Red or Twitch Rivals, Respawn stepped in to fund the Apex Legends Global Series in leagues across the world, the premier Apex competition.

In the early days of Apex Legends, Colby ‘dizzy’ Meadows sat head and shoulders above everyone else in the rankings, after an impressive start to his Apex career that saw him take home numerous wins. Now, in the ALGS era, the top spot has long been in the hands of TSM’s Philip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen, with his former TSM teammate Jordan ‘Reps’ Wolfe not far behind.

That was thanks to TSM’s victory at 2023 ALGS Split 1 Playoffs in London, which had a $1 million prize pool. The record for highest prize purse in Apex Legends history belongs to the 2022 and 2023 ALGS Championships, which had $2 million up for grabs.

In the 2023 Split 2 Playoffs, TSM came second to DarkZero – still netting them a solid portion of the prize pot. They have followed that up with a victory at the world championship.

TSM and DarkZero battle to dominate ALGS

The reigning world champion in Apex Legends is TSM, after their victory at the 2023 ALGS Championship. This has sent all three of their players, ImperialHal, Reps, and Verhulst, to the very top of the rankings.

Right behind them are DarkZero. The Australian team won the 2022 Championship, sending the team’s trio instantly to the top 10 highest-earning players. They backed this up with their 2023 Split 2 win, sending Zer0 and Genburten further up the list.

While ImperialHal maintains his top spot, with long-time duo Reps just behind him, DarkZero duo Zer0 and Genburten, still hold 4th and 5th. TSM’s newer member, Evan ‘Verhulst’ Verhulst, now has third spot.

The list is largely dominated by North American an Australian players, with three European representatives in the top 20. South Korean players Lim ‘Obly’ Jung-hyun and Lee ‘KaronPe’ Min-hyukhas have managed to break into the top 20.

ImperialHal is the only player to crack $1 million in prize winnings, following Falcons’ victory at the ALGS Open 2025.
